AW98 "Fusion" Deconstructed Dress
Comme des Garçons Autumn/Winter 1998 "Fusion" Deconstructed Dress in Dust
The Deconstructed Dress is a sculptural silhouette that juxtaposes structure and fluidity through a layered construction. The inner bodice secures with a hook-and-eye closure, overlaid by an outer shell with a concealed button placket. The staggered fastenings imitates the overlapping corsetry, both protective and exposed. Tailored with dramatic darts and draping, the dress carves around the body like a sculpture in cloth. A functional tab at the back invites transformation: fasten the tip of the hem via a discrete loop to alter the line of the dress entirely.
