N.Hoolywood is defined by a design philosophy that reinterprets vintage garments through a modern lens. Founded by Daisuke Obana (尾花大輔) in 2001, the label grew directly out of his extensive background as a prominent vintage buyer in Harajuku. After co-founding the influential boutique go-getter in 1995, Obana spent years driving across the United States on sourcing trips, training his eye on the patina, hardware, and construction methods of historic utilitarian clothing. In 2000, he established his own retail destination, Mister Hollywood, later led to the official launch of N.Hoolywood that debuted its first collection Rebirth”, in February 2002.

Obana’s specialty lies in the art of reconstruction, taking the rugged essence of workwear, sportswear, and military uniforms and tailoring them into sophisticated, everyday staples. One can expect subtle details that reveal themselves only upon close physical inspection—seamlessly bridging the gap between archival authenticity and wearable silhouettes so that they pair exceptionally well alongside true vintage clothing.

Commune’s selection centers on N.Hoolywood’s 2000s archive pieces, highlighting the raw, experimental phase of the brand. We thoughtfully curate their early remakes, washed military outerwear, modular silhouettes, and pieces with hidden details that show Obana’s deep understanding of textile history and functional design.
