As seen in Look 9 from the Fall 1996 runway, the Oversized Coat continues the exploration of scale and proportion first introduced in the “Doll’s Wardrobe” collection of 1994, where doll-sized garments were reimagined in exaggerated, human-sized forms. This piece features pronounced, padded shoulders that sharply contrast the narrow, notched lapels. A detachable obi-style belt with silver-tone buckle and elastic fastening cinches the waist, while extended flap pockets wrap from front to side, further accentuating the coat’s deliberate disproportionality.
