AW99 Sherpa-Lined Military Parka
Helmut Lang Autumn/Winter 1999 Sherpa-Lined Military Parka in Vintage Black
The Sherpa-Lined Military Parka is an oversized silhouette with a generously wide-cut body designed for layering. Crafted from an overdyed, resinated vintage cotton, the resin infusion results in a dry, structural hand-feel and a distinctive matte surface that allows the development of patina, revealing the base grain of the textile with wear. The front is defined by a four-pocket flap arrangement and a central button-tab placket concealing a silver-tone zipper. The length of the jacket is modifiable through four sets of velcro tabs at the thigh, while drawstrings at the hood and waist allow for precise control of the form and its volume.
The interior consists of a fully detachable, standalone liner. The body is rendered in a high-pile sherpa fleece for heat retention, complemented by padded satin sleeves and rib-knit cuffs. The liner connects to the shell via five button tabs at the lateral seams and five snap buttons at the hood, as well as hidden button tabs at the cuffs. It also features Lang's signature backpack webbing system: three bondage straps allow the garment to be suspended from the shoulders when off the body, enabling the wearer to remain hands-free while providing passive thermal protection. Finished with vented, gusseted armholes and a squared welt pocket tucked into the interior.
